Restrepo is one of the most dangerous outposts, which is situated in Korengal Valley, Afganistan. It is named so in honor of a platoon medic, killed there during the fights of the US military forces against the Taliban. This struggle, happened in this remote location, was considered to be one of the most difficult and exhausting for the US soldiers.
The documentary “Restrepo” is a deep and independent sight into the lives and duties of the outpost men. Taken by two prominent award-winning journalists - Tim Hetherington (known by his reportage about the uncivil war in Liberia) and Sebastian Junger (who wrote  “The Upcoming War” and “The Perfect Storm”), the documentary follows Second Platoon, whose target is to fight, build and maintain the position of this 15-man outpost.
The journalists present the war through soldiers’ eyes, avoiding commentary or any political views. The documentary is a true story, describing an outpost men labor, the boring duties, interrupted by sudden fire fights, about death and fighting for life, which are the necessary attributes of any war. And surely it is also about their mutual assistance, understanding and strong friendship, which help the brave solders of Restrepo to withstand difficulties of any kind.
