Phyllis and Harold are the amazing couple, who have been happily married for 59 years. The documentary based on the interviews of filmmaker Cindy Kleine, including some scenes taken from the original home video of the couple. In her reportage Cindy tries to unravel a mystery of their happiness. Actually the movie is an original mix of cinema verite, animation and the chronicle, collected by filmmaker during the time of more than 12 years. The documentary of Phillys and Harold’ life could have been shown only after the death of the head of family. This is a story of human life as it is, touched upon the issues of love, daily routine, ups and downs, ordinary and extraordinary events of the family. Besides different aspects of life the documentary touches the question of the emotional drama, connected with irretrievable loss of those we love and unavoidable changes in family life it causes. Taken on the suburbs background, many of the movie shots are full of particular charm, fun and romance. Someway the documentary “Phyllis and Harold” reminds the images and remarkable atmosphere from a world-known “Scenes from a Marriage” and “I Love Lucy” filmed by Ingmar Bergman.
