"Athlete" is a sport documentary, released 2010, March 9th. The film has been directed by David Lam, a prominent New York’s photographer and graphic designer. This documentary was his first debut as a film director. The idea of filming "Athlete" appeared in Lam’s mind not by accident. Having completed 3 marathons (in Chicago, New York and London) himself, he had a notion on this kind of sport at first hand.

The documentary acquaints the viewer with lives of its heroes: Jenny, Artie and twin-sisters Carrie and Kellie, making a certain accent on the reason why they came into this sport and what this sport means for each of them.

In 2001 Jenny was diagnosed with Hodjkin’s lymphoma, stage II. After the successful treatment she decided to join the group of triathlon and marathon athletes. Since that time she has been regularly taking part in this kind of sport.

Artie has lost most of his vision because of the genetic disease called retinitis pigmentosa. Despite of his eyes condition, he takes an active part in various endurance events.

Twins Carrie and Kellie started competing in marathons and triathlons long ago. The documentary describes their training for the coming triathlon competition, where they are going to take part together, in detail.
