THE WHITE STRIPES UNDER GREAT WHITE NORTHERN LIGHTS directed by Emmet Malloy is a highly expressive feature film based on the concert work of the White Stripes. The film reveals their breakthrough Canadian tour of 2007 crowned with a grand show dedicated to the 10th anniversary. It took place in famous Savoy Theatre in Glace Bay , Nova Scotia .
The film unveils the inner life of an enigmatic band. Emmet Malloy managed to capture the most extraordinary versions of their songs. We get involved in a great number of shows taking place at improvised stages in city buses, cafés and local bowling alleys.
The film also gives us a close-up of Jack and Meg White’s private life. We see one of music's most mysterious duos chatting, arguing and playing a 'one note show.' The film is remarkable for impressive use of the band's concert colors: red, white and black.
