THE WHITE STRIPES UNDER GREAT WHITE NORTHERN LIGHTS directed by Emmet Malloy is a highly expressive feature film based on the concert work of the White Stripes. The film reveals their breakthrough Canadian tour of 2007 crowned with a grand show dedicated to the 10th anniversary. It took place in famous Savoy Theatre in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia.
The film unveils the inner life of an enigmatic band. Emmet Malloy managed to capture the most extraordinary versions of their songs. We get involved in a great number of shows taking place at improvised stages in city buses, cafés and local bowling alleys.
The film also gives us a close-up of Jack and Meg White’s private life. We see one of music's most mysterious duos chatting, arguing and playing a 'one note show.' The film is remarkable for impressive use of the band's concert colors: red, white and black.
