An outstanding documentary, presented by Focus Features, “Babies” describes first steps in life of babies, covering a life period from the very birth up to one year old. Four babies from distant parts of the world are ready to show and tell us about their first experience in the world they come into.

Ponijao was born in Namibia, in the place not far from Opuwo. Mari is a cute Japanese, residing with her family in Tokyo. Bayarjargal originates from a Mongolian family, who lives on the outskirts of Bayanchandmani. Hattie was born in the United States, and lives with the family in San Francisco.

The idea to create a film, depicting a simultaneous lifetime adventure, belongs to Alain Chabat, who produced the documentary “Babies”. Thomas Balmès, an award-winning filmmaker, directed the film.

The documentary not only describes four kids in their early ages, but captures their cute and funny attempts to know the world around them better. Each of the children, presented in the documentary, tries to get acquainted with the numerous things around them, close people and their first feelings, all of which are unique and universal at the same time.
