In “Waiting for Superman” documentary filmmaker Davis Guggenheim explores the reasons of a low level of education, provided by most of public schools in USA. Every day hundreds of thousands pupils go in to school. Their parents hope to give their kids the education, which will help them to find a decent job in future. But according to statistics, the level of education of their children needs something to be desired. What is the reason?
Guggenheim follows the school life of five different students: Anthony, Bianca, Daisy, Emily and Francisco to reveal the shortcomings of the educational system in US. It is well known, that the system needs new reforms, while the situation is really frustrating. But in spite of all the previous school reforms, which cost the country considerable sums of money, the situation didn’t get any better. The modern system of education in public schools is rather disappointing. Instead of encouraging the young generation to study, sustaining and developing their abilities and talents, it suppresses any desire to study.
The documentary by Guggenheim analyses the problems of learning in modern schools and tries to find the way out of the crisis.
