October country is an outstanding documentary, based on the life of the family, struggling for staying together in spite of all the troubles and cruel circumstances fell to them. Don Mosher is a Vietnam veteran, who is still emotionally affected by his war past. He lives on his own account, as he is highly criticized by relatives, who seem can’t stand and can’t understand him. Dottie, Don’s wife, tries to bring something positive into the situation, but her attempts often end by nothing or even double troubles. Their daughter Donna was enough careless to become a teenage mother and a wife of a man, who treats her rather abusive. Daneal, Donna’s daughter, inherited her mother’s recklessness and finally found she alone with a child on her hands, abandoned by the father. Desi is the youngest daughter of Donna, who seems to be quite a bright girl, very well versed with visual environment in her early years. Denise, Don’s sister, who lives separately, turned away from Don and the family and joined the group of Wiccans, practicing their obsessive rituals in the neighboring cemetery. The documentary was taken by Don Mosher himself and with his family cooperation. 2009 October Country won the grand prize on the Silverdocs Film Festival.
